Ribcage

I don't know much more to say about this piece other than, it contains a lot of things that relate to me personally and artistically, something so simple, yet there's always so much going on in the piece.

Times Square

Well, admittedly using some stock brushes for the floral designs in the central piece I'm actually super proud of this design. Purely because everything feels so in place, I'm really happy with how well the typography of the lyrics worked out with layering effects, still readable yet eye catching. Anyway.

The Occasional Sky Theme

So yeah, the final piece of the landscapes fine line designs I drew up. Even less related to my tree of life subject matter, though there is a few hints. I think the best part about this piece is that the direction is more in the art style, rather than the topic of the piece. A lot of my artwork is a way for me to work through my insomnia and I found these pieces to be the most relief.

Bury Now

I think this piece though it seems very over the top is actually quite minimaist for me, it also helped me learn a lot more about the different shapes tools, I built a lot of shapes in this picture using the pen tools and just fillers with transparent to red gradients, I also managed to make a lot with the comet effects of an overlay.

Immortal

One of my favourite songs of all time, I listened to the album 'Reborn' by Rameses B whilst making this piece but when I went into photoshop I had this idea of only using shapes again, no extra backgrounds, no hidden stardust, just pure shapes and styles. I managed to come up with this really solidly built piece that has a nice colour scheme with really well structure shadows and depth but on top of that has this whole grunged out effect to it. I think the use of textures and graphics within the type on this piece helped me learn a lot about changing textures for imagery. Also, I started trying to "watermark" my images, it went terribly in this, can you tell? (top left).

Searching For Endings

I'm a huge fan of tattoos and I wanted to keep experimenting with traditional sketches in the 'Tree Of Life' category so I decided to try and put some ideas I had together and this was the outcome. I think if I went a little more into detail with every single part (Like I have in my landscape fine-liner sketches) then I would be more happy with this.

Either way I was happy with how I managed to draw the font and how well the "Biro Shading" affected the piece.

Frame Of Mind - Band Branding.

My media project for A2 required me to do filming and promotional branding of a band. So I did an entire EP artwork packaging and logo branding for the band Frame Of Mind. You can see the front cover, back cover (Demo), and the full logo design we went with (To the left).

You can also see a draft logo below that used a lot more of my 'shapes' designs, before I sat down with the band and they spoke to me about incorporating a more rustic and vintage style to the pieces.

I was happy with all the pieces because despite the minimalism I managed to achieve for the band and with my own progress, there is still something really of my own in the designs. Also I'm really happy with how the logo letter type came out.

Altitude (Album Artwork Design)

Another single cover for a track I finished of the same name. One reason I'm happy with this is because of just how well the typography came out, I started up a project just full of different fonts and was seeing how I could get the blur tools to work in and out of them. My favourite example of what I learnt from it!

I think this was a piece that also made me start really utilizing the different layer lighting options in photoshop!

Swirled Tree Of Life

More Tree Of Life felt pen work, I actually get super inspired by just letting my hands start an image and seeing where it ends up.

If there was a chance of this starting in the Tree Of Life topic then I say no, but it definitely finished that way, especially after a few Sharpie colour decisions!

Orbit

I think my main aim with this piece was once again to use minimal images but also work more with depth of field and using stuff like drop shadows and lighting flares to create depth in the image. Personally I'm super happy with the result, I think I would've used a lot more blurring to the cloud, now that I think about it. But erm, yeah.

Born

For this piece I think it was the second piece I decided to settle myself to one colour pallete and try my best to work with textures rather than other images, I feel the idea of the snow imprints and cracked walls through the shards really well. The only thing I dislike from this image is the typography but hey ho, we learn over time!

Follow You

Another traditional piece inspired by the 'Tree Of Life' Subject, I'm a huge fan of felt pens, Sharpies, Berol, Staedtler, all those kind of branded felts I find so much fun to use, there in pretty much every traditional piece I do, unless I'm being unconventional with materials! I used pencil crayons, felts, fineliners, and watercolour pencils for this piece.

Tree Of Life (A2 Portfolio Cover)

For my A2 Art and Design coursework I chose to do a study on the subject of the "Tree Of Life" and this is the front cover I made. I made it using a source image from the artist Silas Stoddard and then began compiling new abstracted and faceted work around the piece to make it come to life, I was super happy about my choice to gradient the piece, it changed the piece entirely.

Falling Apart

I made this piece whilst listening to a new EP of music I bought from an artist named Xilent. I decided to try and inspire myself in this piece by using photshops tools to create everything from scratch, all the smoke particles, stars, and shapes were all made from scratch. I did this as I wanted to challenge myself to make sure I don't become dependant on "Photomanipulation" of others work,

Here's a non-lyrical version of the piece without the Typography.

Colour Surround Us

Realising that this blog is going to be back to front in terms of how I wanted to present my work... ah well, enjoy! another traditional piece using my fine liner work and watercolours.

I thought it might be worth including what the piece started as without the colour additions. just to show my colour choice was quite frantic to make the centre piece stand out.
